Does anyone know anything about Ohio State's relaitively new "mock clinic" built a year or two ago that is instituted into their med school program? I didn't see anything on their web site. Thanks!

It's called the "Clinical Skills Center". The link can be found here.

With the boards now including a clinical portion, many schools have added clinical skills labs. At OSU, there are ~15 examination rooms to be used with standardized patients and a lab for learning and practicing many skills. Already this year, we have had a suturing workshop, an intubation workshop, and a phlebotomy workshop available to us (as first years). The guy who runs it is awesome and tells us whatever we want to learn, let him know and he'll set up a session for it. We can also sit in on any courses he might be offering to hospital employees if there is room (ex. - he was doing ACLS for nurses recently).

As part of anatomy, we do "Anatomy Correlations" where we learn examination skills related to the section of the body we are currently dissecting. On each test day, we have an "exam" over these in the skills center. Throughout your first and second years, we have a number of different sessions in the skills lab and with standardized patients. Lots of sessions are also held for Med III's and IV's.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Hey AmyBEMT, I'm interviewing at OSU soon, any specific advice for interviewing there (beyond just questions that you get from Interview Feedback)? Thanks a lot!
