OK to fax a request for letter of rec?

Has anyone successfully faxed a physician (DO) a request for a meeting/letter of rec? Would this not be the way to go? How have you who have gotten letters from DOs gone about it? Thank you!

It is not the way to go. Ask in person. If there is no possible way to ask in person, call using the telephone.

How about a request for a meeting in writing mailed to the Doc's office? I have tried to call a bunch of DOs around here and I never got past leaving a messaage with the MA.
