I didnt know how to word this but I've had a few older EM docs tell me that EM was great until it started taking a toll on their health when they got older (I guess due to shift work and rythm changes.) So is this only with EM or is this common with all other specialities?

who doesn't have burn out in an ED??:D

We have covered this plenty. The short story is that yes odd hours get tougher as you age. This applies to every specialty such as surg, OB, Crit Care and so on where you don't work shifts but get paged all night. Most ER groups deal with this by offering the oldsters set shifts, circadian shifts, days or whatever.
