The CNNMoney stuff below must include faculty salaries or they must be faculty and salaried OMFS folks. I am sticking with the ADA and from the horses mouth of my mentor. 😉

Average pay: $211,766
Salary Total compensation
(includes bonus)
75% in this career make more than: $139,967 $145,626
50% in this career make more than: $175,531 $188,026
25% in this career make more than: $260,754 $276,254
Top potential compensation (5% make more): $475,247

10-year job growth: 16.18%
Total jobs 2004: 6,043
Forecast 2014: 7,021
Average annual growth (including new jobs and net replacement): 199

As long as I make more than I make now I think I will be happy... but 330k sounds nice!

check out this link for comparison

The surgeons all seem to do well so i am guessing oral surgery is just as lucrative.

c'mon guys I know you better than this! you all did OMFS for the bling, so lets face the facts. If you don't take home 500K + then you must reevaluate how you can make your practice more efficient.

Remember these figures are from OMFS EMPLOYEES, not private practice OMFS-ers. ADA stats are questionable too. If you spank it right you can do 500K.

Not all of us act like we're in it just to help people:

1. Love the specialty
2. Lifestyle
3. Bankroll
4. Make fun of Periodontists
5. Help people

I always thought your list was:

1. Dudes dig oral surgeons
2. The ass (see #1)
3. Help people
4. Couldn't get into Perio
5. If you can't pick up dudes telling them you're an Oral Surgeon then Propofol always works great

It should give you a link to cut and paste. I use imageshack.us and it works well.

Your kidding right?😕
At my school they used to come into the 4th year dental school class and ask if anyone wanted to do perio. That is how they filled their remaining spots.
And then they went to Hygiene. (sorry, can't help myself)

211k seems pretty low for OMS...

I thought that the average was ~500k for these guys once they own their own office. Maybe I was misinformed...

How late to OMS work? Are they able to work till 65?
