Hey, about to submit my applications for OMFS programs. Just curious, how important is it to have a letter of recommendation from the director of OMFS at your dental school? I've found that only a few OMFS programs actually require letters from the director, the rest just stipulate "2-3 PEFs". Reason I'm asking is that a few conversations with past students have made me nervous about the letters my program director writes... so I'm thinking of not using it at all in the end.

Any input?

Thanks!

It should be faculty at the least. Program directors are good to have a letter from because most know each other well, but if you don't feel comfortable getting one then don't.

FYI: deadlines are approaching very soon for many programs. Submit ASAP and get your secondaries done stat.
