hey guys...i had a quick question about mcat prep which i was hoping somebody could answer. i will be applying next summer, so i was thinking about taking the mcat sometime in march of next year...therefore i would like to start preparing for the mcat sometime in september. i know its kind of excessive amount of preparation, but i would really like to score somewhere in the mid 30's. however, do the preparation books change from month to month or like you from test to test...what i mean by change is update etc. do you think it would be ok to get a book in sept and it would still be efficient and good enough to study for the march mcat? thanks!

New editions aren't out that rapidly. The companies sell a "new" version each year but very little changes. You should be good to go with buying in Sept.

There isn't a proposed test date in March. Here's a schedule: http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/mcat2008.pdf .

Also, I will be most likely taking the MCAT in April, and I am starting light reveiwing by exam krackers and MCAT perals, creating notes, ect. I figure if I reveiw periodically it'll limit the stess and such. I'm not sure about subs. for materials. I have EK, and their 1001 books. I'll purchase the CBT as time nears.

just buy the newest edition of the books now, and thats it. you dont need crazy new stuff, and in fact, i know people who have used stuff thats 2/3 years old, and still scored high. In the end, most of the books, kaplan, ek, princeton all have the same stuff, its just about how much effort you put in, so its not the brand new edition that will be getting you that great score, its gonna be hard work

thanks alot guys.....yea well if not march sometime where i can get the results before june 1st. i think im going to start preparing lightly during the next 2 months.
