UCLA called me today and I found out that I have an interview...this is the ONLY California school that has acknowledged my existence, does anyone know what kind of interview they give? Is it a scary kind? I'm so nervous!!!

Congratulations Mango!!! I see you are local, which explains why they called you. I'm in LA too and when I was called, Carol told me they call local applicants before sending a letter because they expect we can schedule the interview on short notice. Dont stress about the interview--its not scary. Its pretty generic.. one student, one faculty. Its not blind, however the faculty member has not seen your academic record or scores (at least, mine hadn't). It's very kickback. Good luck to you!!!!!

Thanks Caliboy! By short notice, do you mean a few days, or does that mean that they expect me to come in the same day I call? I'm just scared that when I call them tomorrow morning they might ask me to come in that same day!

Congratulations on your interview! Don't worry, it's totally laid back and they are pretty flexible with the scheduling (at least they were with me). My student interviewer had a list of questions he asked and he jotted down some notes during the interview, but it was very easy going. My faculty interviewer just asked me some general questions and then he pretty much just talked about the school, etc. Good luck!

first off, congrats mango!!

man, you guys are lucky... with the easy interviews and all that. i had easy interviews too but at all my other interviews!! out of all schools, it had to be ucla that gave the hard grilling. and ucla is my top choice, doh!

well who knows, i'm hoping i'm one of those guys that will be able to say, "i had a stress interview but somehow i got in!"

don't worry matthew, you sound like a smart guy. I'm sure they liked your answers. And thanks by the way, but I'm still really nervous about my interview. I would love to go to UCLA. I go there right now and whenever I see med students walk past me in the hospital I can't help but think about how lucky they are!

Mango-- by short notice I mean she initially wanted me to come in 4 days later, but I actually ended up scheduling the interview for about 10 days later. I'm sure she will have a couple dates available for you. I'm currently a UCLA student too and UCLA is definitely one of my top choices. I wonder if I know you??

caliboy, people say "pm me" but i won't pretend to know what that means. My aim name is xjuliet396 if you want to im me though =)

Out of curiosity.... for those of you who received interview invites from UCLA.... how long after they received your supplemental/letter of recs?

Thank you.

You aren't the only one who had a stress UCLA interview. Mine was the most difficult of all my interviews, with a lot of questions about my opinions on current events and about my family, so UCLA is not necesarily low stress.

I agree--
UCLA was by far my toughest interview. My second major is philosophy and I was grilled...also about current events, history etc.. not overly stressful but definately not easy..

Congrats o the invite mango---don't forget to check out interviewfeedback.com !

thanks for all the support, guys! my interview is on monday. I'm just going to try to pretend it doesn't matter what happens...I'm going to try very hard...hehehehe

I only had one faculty interviewer at UCLA. This was the only school where I had only one interview.
