So far during my preceptorship, I haven't seen anyone except the OMT and Family Medicine Docs use OMT...I'm with Internal Medicine and never seen any doctors use it? Is this similar elsewhere? I guess they just send a consult for OMT at my hospital, which is a DO hospital.

we had an orthopod DO come in that said he uses it...

I live in PA and have had the opportunity to be around several kinds of osteopathic physicians and I have rarely seen omt used. Like others said, really the only practical specialties to use omt are fp, omt, or pm&r. I guess some orthopedic and im use it but ive never seen it. I work in an emergency room and have talked to many er, im physicians and they all say its kind of an impractical thing to use. It's also hard to bill for in certain settings like the er.

I'm suprised that mnay ob/gyn (yuck!) docs do not utilize OMM enough. I can definitely see many sacral/pelvis treatments that can be done.

We had a cardiologist come in an teach a few OMT techniques. He swore by it. Then again, he had on a pink shirt....hmmmmm
