Hey Everybody,
I thought it might be a good idea to post any info we hear about schools that have given us that ever ambiguous "Oh-Hold" status. Here is what I have heard:

Rush: On hold means they will go back and look at your file in March. I know in the past they have interviewed well into May.

I am also on hold on GW and MCP. Anybody here news about these schools?

The "on hold" e-mail I got from UCI said:

"Your application will remain under consideration until early June, when you will be reviewed for a position on the Alternate List."

Hopefully by June I will have been accepted somewhere, and not be too concerned with this.

UC Davis has a "reconsideration" pool where they will decide on your application after they have interviewed everyone. but it seems like they might be interviewing till May. so isn't that too late??

I called U of L today. They were really nice and said that they would be interviewing through the end of March, but were not any more specific than that. However, I did find out that they are still offering interview invitations each time the admissions committee meets. Maybe there is hope for us "Hold" people yet!

GW is holding me also, pre-interview. They said they are interviewing through March, so either by then you have an interview or you can count on being rejected. ;)

Alright, I am totally feeling this thread. Probably more than the people who posted before me. I just got the lovely "on hold" letter from Rush, as well. Since I am dying to go there, I was not real thrilled when I opened the envelope and saw THAT! What does "on hold" mean anyway? If something better doesn't come along, we'll think about it? How frustrating!
Okay, feeling a little better.
Anybody else want to vent?

Will most schools tell you via e-mail or snail mail of you are on hold? Or do you have to call them?

I still have not heard from 17 schools, but all they tell me is that I'm under consideration or review. Is this the same thing?

chica,

I guess we are put into a pile that collects dust until they get through all of the well-qualified applicants, or until after the May 15th deadline. It is safe to assume that all accepted at Rush won't be matriculating there, so they will grab a few apps from the "dusty pile" to fill up any available seats. Anybody have an idea of how many seats schools have left after accepted applicants give notice?

nochaser, i'm afraid it's worse than that. once they need more people, they'll look to their waitlisted peeps. they won't bother with that dusty pile unless they just want to interview more people.

the kind people at GW and UF have put me on hold pre-interview. i'm hoping that sending fall semester grades will help.

Well, I'm on hold at GW... <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />

They're probably holding a grudge from 4 years back... <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />

I'm pretty much counting myself as REJECTED! <img src="graemlins/pity.gif" border="0" alt="[Pity]" />
