"As importantly, 189 independent community cancer clinics, typically made up of multiple treatment clinics, have been forced to merge into hospitals, where administration of cancer care is significantly more expensive than it is in independent practices. A recent study indicates that more than 25% of the cancer services hospitals provide cost more than five times the amount allowed by Medicare, and in some cases, hospitals are charging more than 15 times the amount allowed, as reported by Medscape Medical News."

This would be a great cause for ASIPP, SIS, and ASPN to rally behind.

weren't oncologists getting rich off of the chemo drugs? ( Do oncologists have an incentive to prescribe expensive treatments? )

is this about ethical patient care or pure greed?

They were getting rich but but getting paid less by insurance cos and govt payors than hospitals. A win-win better mousetrap.
