To do things over again I'd have become a nurse 10 years sooner, and I'd be either an NP right now, or making $120k as a nursing supervisor or higher. I'm one year out of school and make about $12k less than a PA or NP generally starts where I am. Not bad for 3 shifts a week (4 if I want an extra $650 to buy something or go somewhere). I could have been having this lifestyle or better a lot earlier. Im not pulling provider wages, but I'm also not doing provider work with provider stress. Nobody calls me in the night, I don't work scut shifts. I take a sick day whenever I need to, and get plenty of PTO. I'm hoping as an NP I don't have to sacrifice what I have right now as an RN.
