opinions on MPH/MD

Anyone got opinions on the value of doing an MPH/MD program?

My school has a program where you can do both in the normal four year, rather than the five that most schools do. I'm considering it, and have to apply by mid-May.

I feel like there are some medical specialties where the MPH is valuable, and some where its not, and I feel a little wierd applying to a program before I know for sure what specialty I'm going to go into. I used to be pretty focused on surgery, but in the past year I've had a burgeoning interest in infectious disease/epidemiology.


Any thoughts? (I'm posting about this in the MD forum as well)
