Hi Everyone!
I have been lurking here for a while and figured this would be a good place to gather some well-informed opinions on my chances of being accepted to med school. I graduated in 1997 with a theatre degree and have been working professionally in film, tele, theatre, and voice-overs for the past 6-7 years. I really love it, but it is not exactly stable. Anyway, I have always loved science but was not really encouraged
by my parents to study them because I was very talented in other areas (the arts). Recently, I have been taking my prerecs for med school: Chem 1,2 and Biology 1,2 and will take my physics and Org. this Fall. I have done very well, getting A's in everything.
The problem is that when I was getting my undergrad, my mother died of cancer and because of the time away from studies, it hurt my GPA. I ended up with a 3.36, which isn't terrible, but not really med school material. My classes were also all theatre or arts related. My transcript is a bit erratic because when she died I dropped down to part-time for a while.
Also, Does how well one does in science courses reflect how well one will do on the MCAT?
Thank you to anyone who wishes to give his/her two cents!
