*sigh* okay guys optomcas is proving to be more challenging than i thought. for grades my transcript has both letter & numeric grades. but i noticed that these don't match the ones on optomcas.

eg. on my transcrip B = 68 - 79 % (including B-, B, B+)
on optomcas B = 80 - 89 %

should i just be inputting the letter grade? anyone in the same situation?

thx!

I'm having the same issue. A 78% now looks very unappealing.

hi, i live in canada as well. do you know if the american schools have a different grading system? i didn't have this problem last year when i tried applying :S

Enter your grades as they are on your transcript!!!! If a 70 = B at your school then put B on OptomCAS. US schools have higher class averages % wise, usually mid to high 70s, which is why a 70-79 corresponds to a C. At Canadian schools, or at least my undergrad the class average was always 65% which corresponds to a C. When I applied to Optometry school in 2007 I entered all my letter grades as they were on my transcript (according to the grading scale at my undergrad university), not by the grade scale each optometry school went by. Canadian schools already deflate our GPA enough with low class averages, so you'd be deflating them even more by following the OptomCAS scale.

What's the deal with being able to add an A+? I didn't know colleges offered A pluses...

one of the universities i attended gave an A+ for 90-100. an A was 85-89 i think.

a 65% average? corresponding to a C?

Canadian schools are a joke.

Hardly ...

The reason why class average's are set to 65% = C (50% is a pass) is that it gives our school's credibility. I've had classes in undergrad where they had to bell curve our grades DOWN to the 65% average because the class average was too high. The lower class average better distinguishes who the outstanding students are.
