Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Preliminary Intern Opening – VCU Medical Center OMFS

Our current preliminary intern was recently offered a categorical position at another program and we are accepting applications for a preliminary internship position. This is a great opportunity for a current or future applicant to gain experience as a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Our preliminary intern functions at the same level and carries the same responsibilities as our categorical interns. As a team member, primary responsibilities include coverage of our department emergency clinic, management of a resident practice schedule, and member of the OR team. The preliminary intern also assumes hospital privileges and hospital call to the same responsibility as a categorical resident.

VCU Medical Center was recently ranked as the #1 hospital in the state of Virginia, and is the only Level 1 Trauma Center for a 150-mile radius. Our program practices the full scope of the specialty. Our department maintains case log information if there any specific questions about the types of cases we manage. Historically, our preliminary interns have matched at excellent programs around the country.
