About the Program:

Want to know what it’s like to be a dental student?

Spend a weekend in the shoes of a dental student receiving instruction from dental school professors and students, completing exercises learned in dental school. You will have a great opportunity to use the Simulation units which will give you a hands on experience of the learning environment for dental training and practice.

On Friday afternoon, you will enjoy presentations in the fields of restorative dentistry and prosthodontics in addition to a tour of the dental school facilities by dental students. During the tour, you will be able to ask the dental student tour guides about applying to dental school, dental school curriculum, and career options in dentistry. In addition students will be making and pouring impressions in the simulation/ wet lab. Optional bowling with dental students will take place after the scheduled events.

The Saturday session will be divided between performing a gold and porcelain fused to metal crown preparation in the simulation clinic and learning dental anatomy to create wax carvings, trimming stone casts, and fabricating bleaching trays in the simulation clinic/wet lab. Recognizing dental terminology and understanding biological and mechanical concepts are reinforced throughout the course.

The course will provide you with dental and manual dexterity experiences valuable on your dental school applications.
