What I did for orgo that worked really well was start with the course outlines from my (second) review course. They are basically a topic list with some key diagrams and about ten multiple choice questions. Whatever topics I knew, I wrote down a few notes for (no more than a page). Whatever I didn't know, I referenced using their books (BR books). I also had EK and PR (had that course my first time), but I didn't find them to be as helpful. Once I had gone through each topic once, I started taking passages. After each passage, I would grade it and add things to my previous notes. I think writing it really helped for me. I also think that taking it more seriously my second time helped. The mistake I made my first time was thinking that because the EK books were easy, the test would be easy. Don't get me wrong, I liked the EK texts (I think their 1001 questions need a bunch of work). But in the end, they didn't prepare me as much as I thought they would. BR books are probably the most detailed, but if you only reference the subjects you need, its manageable. They incorporate physics, biology, and general chemistry into the orgo books, which really helped with the other subjects. My first time I didn't appreciate how much effort I would need to put in. Luckily my second time I did. Good luck and do it right the first time.
