I was looking through some of the requirements for all the schools Im applying to and it says that one year of orgo plus lab is required. I have the 2 lectures, but my undergraduate university only required one orgo lab to graduate with a bio degree. Do you guys or girls have two orgo labs under your belt? Do we need two orgo labs? I looked at the MSAR and the info is kind of ambiguous. I dont know what to think. I know it varies for each school but i was wondering how many orgo labs you have taken. It just seems stupid that my undergrad didnt require me to take a class which would be required even for their own medical school. From the looks of the UIC COM application it looks like Im not finished with my pre reqs. Pretty odd since my undergrad was UIC.

one semester, listed on all my apps, no problems.....that's how i roll

I will be taking 2 semesters of orgo lab. I thought that was the standard.

This is very rare. (at least in Texas)

Most schools offer a 2 hour organic lab course taken in 1 semester.

I thought most schools require 2 credits of orgo lab- how you get it is up to you, but they want 2 credits. If some undergrad schools do that in one semester, great. My school (and just about every school I've looked at the catalog) has one credit lab courses per semester. Thus, you would need two semesters of orgo lab.

Brett, I'm with you. I took every lab for the courses I took that offered lab. With the exception of basic bio courses, I thought lab was the most fun part.

You'll need 2 credits of orgo lab. If the one orgo lab you have to take gives you 2 credits, you're all set.

my orgo lab was a 2 credit 5 1/2 hour lab over 1 semester. i asked some schools about it and they said it wasnt a problem

Ive been looking online at some other schools curriculum and some have two some don't. Problem with my situation is my lab is only one credit. I looked at the next lab that UIC offers and thats a 2 credit lab. Four hours a day twice a week. Thats ridiculous if I need to take that. UIC is weird though because they give four credits for orgo lecture instead of three like many other schools. That would mean I would have 11 credits in orgo after the second lab. That seems like a bit much. Im on my way to meet my advisor and Ill let you know what she says.

Woah, this is big news. So we're saying that if my first semester Ochem lab was 2 credits, no schools are going to require me to take a second semester?
