I noticed on the AAMC outline, the only hydrocarbons listed for organic chem section are alkanes. And even so, only substitution reactions and free-radical reactions of alkanes are covered. No mention of E1/E2. There's also NO mention of alkenes or alkynes.

So should I not study these topics? I've repeatedly seen questions in TBR/TPR that ask us about elimination rxns. I've even seen electrophilic aromatic substitution/addition reactions which are again not AAMC topics.

Do you guys still study these topics?

Grateful to AAMC to be able to skip alkene/alkyne reactions.
