Among those of you getting interviews, do any of you rank near the middle (or even lower half) of your class? If so, what do you think helped compensate? For those of you with ranks like this, have you been out of school for a bit and what did you do in the meantime?

I was 15/170. I've been out of school for 3 years and have worked in private practice full time. Ive taught as a clinical instructor at a dental school and have published a paper with an ortho dept. even with that I only got interviews from 2/18 schools. Not sure what else I could do..

LOL, seriously. For those of you with 400K loans, are you really going to pay Roseman an extra 60K/year for 3 years to do ortho?

Take the GRE and apply to every single program out there.
 
I met a woman who got 1 interview and got accepted to that school. you don't need 15 if you can present yourself well.

I agree. The more interviews you have, the better your chances of someone giving you that yes.

I have met people who matched with just 1 interview. It is my belief that they are extremely lucky. Some of them were people who had connections that got them the interview and the match. Some of them were people geographically tied to some location and thus only applied to the 1 school in that location and got lucky. I think back and if I had only applied to the schools in my location, I may have still been cursing second molar endo.

Does match put out a statistic of how many people rank 1 school and get accepted?
