Ortho after a year in General Surgery residency

Is it possible to apply or transfer to orthopedic residency after spending a year in general surgery residency, likely because the person was not able to successful match to orthopedics after medical school, so he/she chose general surgery instead?

Possible but you'd have to find a pgy 2 spot that is open. I know that it has been done. The abos pgy1 requirements are similar to the pgy1 surgery requirements
