I am applying to dental school soon and I was wondering if I am in the middle tier of my class in dental school, can I still do my ortho or OMFS residency overseas right after dental school Ex. Australia, UK, India, China and come back to the US or Canada to practice? Thank-you.

I don't believe you would be able to return to US or Canada and register as a specialist (at least not with training from Australia) due to the licensing bodies involved.

Australian orthodontic programs require that you complete a minimum of 2-years full-time as a general dentist prior to applying and either passing the RACDS primary examinations or having completed a Masters or PhD research degree.

Australian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residencies are only open to those who hold both a DDS/DMD and a MD equivalent and is organised by the RACDS following completion of their internship.
