Orthodontic Tooth Movement - PDL

Question about PDL and orthodontics. When you get ortho does the PDL widen on both the compression and tension side or is it just on one side or the other?

PDL is compressed on the side of movement of the tooth.This compression is compensated by the bone resorption.
