Do all DOs have to have the usual 4 years of medschool, minimum of 2 years residency, AND a one year internship? Is this just certain states? Certain schools?

Do all DOs have to have the usual 4 years of medschool, minimum of 2 years residency, AND a one year internship? Is this just certain states? Certain schools?

If you want to be certified by the AOA. DO's are required to be certified by the AOA in only 5 states.

Keep in mind, however, that the internship year can be counted by the AOA even it is an ACGME residency, depending on the specialty, and other circumstances.

I don't know of any allopathic residencies that are less than 3 years, however.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Florida, and Oklahoma, I believe.
