I am looking for a database that has osteopathic research. Medline has around 26 articles under the category of "osteopathic manipulation" and I checked out the TCOM research center database. They have around 25 projects but they are projects that are going on currently. I thought it would be a database of osteo research done so far. Where can I find a database of osteo research that has been done so far--i.e, where can i search the osteopathic literature?

thanks for alll help:clap:

You may need to clarify what you mean about "osteopathic research"

There are plenty of research going on at osteopathic medical schools but not all of them are osteopathically related....

You may need to specify what exactly about osteopathic medicine you're interested in finding.... such as muscle energy techniques, respiratory techniques, HVLA (high velocity low amplitude) techniques, FPR (Facilitated Positional Release), Still techniques.... or even more specific techniques such as lymphatic pumps, type I or Type II somatic dysfunctions.... etc....

If you're looking for a specific journal look under The Journal of American Osteopathic Association (JAOA)....

There really isn't a specific search literature.... It's in Medline, you just have to be specific.

Hope this helps a bit....

thanks Dr. drusso that was a really really helpful site. I found out about research that I didn't even know existed. It kinda got rid of one of my ideas cause it was already done, but i guess it's also good that teh research was already done..

Popoy, yes i should have been more clear. sometimes i tend to assume that everyone knows what I am thinking, I'm working on realizing and consciously overriding my assumptions.

i was specifically talking about research related to OMT.

BTW, is there a website that has all the JAOA articles. cause on the website for the JAOA, it only has selected articles from 2000 to the present? I found in ostmed several articles about several topics that I wanted to check out but they were earlier than 2000. Is there a website for all the articles in the JAOA?

This is kind of off topic, but as far as the JAOA, I feel sometimes the articles in there isn't really intense research. i.e. having their major story being about what osteo graduates say about how much omm they use (or something like that, I kinda skimmed over it). Sometimes the JAOA does have articles that are related more to basic science, but it certianly isn't every issue. Does anyone else notice this, or is it just that I haven't really look at many journals. Are lots of journals like that?

I've noticed that too about JAOA.... I'm not sure why that is.... But at times, with research that is more science based, I find myself criticizing its methodology and validity.... I think that's my research side talking... I hope that in one way or another they do accept articles that are more scrutinized. That's just my humble opinion....
