Hi all! I have an interview coming up so I reached out to someone I know in the program. The only question I'm having trouble with preparing is, "What do you think will be a challenge for OT's in the future?"

I tend to overthink, especially during this stressful time of being interviewed so ANY feedback you believe would help or any websites would be greatly appreciated! Any current OT's on here that could give me more insight?

Thank you and good luck to you all!

I'm not a current OT, just a prospective student but I have personally witnessed insurance issues and reimbursement being an issue. I also believe that doctors overprescribing medications is a problem in geriatrics. Instead of going the therapy route, older patients are becoming dependent on aggressive pain meds and their daily living activities are suffering, resulting in isolation and dependence. I've seen this in nursing facilities and in my own family life.

I had a conversation with an OT student who thinks that OT is getting too broad, and is losing the definition of what they do. So a possible challenge could be defining a need for OT when there is ABA, speech path, and different specialists for different things. Also to what information they can accurately tell a parent when it has to deal with things out of their scope such as nutrition, supplements, and different therapies.
