Jim,
I am a NY state resident, but would like to apply to some
out of state schools as well. As a general rule, state schools
give preference to their own residents. Can you recommend some
US medical schools that accept a fair percentage of out of state
residents? The AAMC guide gives official statistics, but I
thought you may have some first hand experience. Thank you.

Most private schools accept a good number of out of state
residents, but many are partially state funded and give
preference. For instance, Baylor, in Houston, is private but gives
slight preference to Texas residents. For out of staters, all you
have to do is buy a $30,000 condo and you can get in state tuition
your last three years. Make payments on the condo instead of
rent, sell the condo, and you come out $40,000 ahead.
Northwestern, in Chicago, gives preference to illinois residents
but does not give tuition discounts to in or out state residents.

Best wishes! Thanks for reading medicalstudent.net. Please
