While visiting India this past April, I read adverts for programs which offered specialized training in clinical research, specifically in regards to pharmaceutical trials conducted by foreign companies (ie Pfizer, Merck, Eli Lilly). Basically the outsourcing of these trials to India for which the companies need trained Indian docs to conduct. Does anyone have friends or relatives involved in this enterprise? Have any large trials begun? I remember reading that committments had been made but none had started.

Clinical trials have been ongoing in india for the past 10 years or so. Now the big pharma companies are slowly moving a bulk of their work to India and other third world countries.

Here is an example of people who I know who run trials in India on behalf of the pharma sponsors:

There are many more sites around India that do trials on an individual basis.

PM if you have any more questions.
