Hi all! i'm currently a 3rd going on 4th year medical student studying in singapore and i'm interested to do a surgical elective in the states for a period of 1 month just to get a feel of how medicine is practiced there. ive done some reading and i understand that final year students in the states do clerkships in their final year before they select their residency. by the time i'm applying i will be in final year and would like to do something of that nature as well. does anyone have any recommendations for which hospitals/schools are good to go to with a good teaching and learning environment? i know that for certain schools international students are still required to take the USMLE step I which i wouldnt mind taking if thats necessary to get an elective there. thanks!
