I have 3 months of elective time next year (my PGY3 year) and i'm trying to decide what to do with it. I'm toying with the idea of going somewhere interesting to do a surgery elective. I was thinking of Australia, New Zealand or maybe the UK. Does anyone out there have any suggestions/contacts/experiences they can share? Thanks so much.

i am doing an 8 week surg elective in cape town. i am stoked. i think there are still some openings in the outlying hospitals, but Groote Schuur hospital fills up quick.

it seems that it is trauma heavy, and there are some cool beaches. cape town is supposed to be great, and i know the waves are good over there. pm or email me ([email protected]) if i can help in any way.

good luck!
