Pain fellowship combined with Palliative Care fellowship? Anyone heard of this before? I believe that anesthesiology can really advance and contribute to the field of palliative medicine especially in acutely ill patients.

Potential in certain pain procedures carrying over to the pain management of dying patients???

Make sense to me, since pain is the most feared subject in the terminally ill patients. I also see palliative care as a very rewarding and gratifying field.

Wow, I agree with you. The more that I provide pain management, the less enamored I am with medications and the more I rely on procedures and physical therapy. Having said that, I find that many physical therapists do not understand the precipitators of chronic back pain and do, just like patients say, make them worse.

Let us here it for procedures which decrease suffering, whether from back pain or cancer pain.
