PAMA cuts clinical lab fees by around 40%

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Note: most pathology codes are not in the CLS fee schedule.

This was expected bummer for the labs we work for. The overall cuts average around 35 - 40%. FY2018 cut of will be 10 % which the max it can drop in a year.

It will under go annual reductions of 10% until it reaches the weighted average.
You can go to CMS link to download the whole file if you want to see other codes.
Pap and HPV tests were cut around 31-35%

PS. LabCorp and Quest win. Hospital lab are toast.

Fingers crossed. Hospital labs will be strongly impacted if these rates come into effect.

What do think will happen to part A as hospital labs suffer more and more?
Seems like an area hospital management might target if lab revenue drops.

Everyone will suffer if these cuts go through. Labs rely on the government to make up for crappy managed care deals, client billing schemes etc. The inducements to get medicare/Medicaid work is coming back to bite us. I don't blame the government for not wanting to be used any longer.
