Two questions regarding the whole application process:

1) What does it mean when a program participates in ERAS but not the NMRP match?

2) We submit our application via ERAS. We are offered interviews. We interview. We access NMRP to rank the programs we interviewed at. NMRP provides us with the match sometime in March. Is that basically how the whole process plays out?

1. Some military programs, and some fields (Ophthal, NS, etc) do not participate in NRMP. They all use a separate matching system -- either the military match or the SF match.

2. Yep, that's it. You left out the 3 week period between when your rank lists are due and when the match results are released. That's lots of fun.

I've found non-military and non-early match programs that do not participate in NMRP under AMA Freida. How do they match?
