How do you handle prereq classes that were taken pass/fail when taking them for a grade wasn't an option? At my undergrad, like several other top science and engineering schools (CalTech and MIT), the freshman year is done pass/fail. You don't select it as an option, that's just how it's graded. Additionally, I was required to take a good number of of the prereq classes my freshman year so my Bio, Physics, and Gen. Chem classes are all Pass/Fail.

Don't think it's a problem. As long if you were required to take those classes, they can be explained away. Any rankings you could point to?

Ranking in terms of what?...the school or my class ranking? The rest of my courses were all graded. The school itself is the number one undergraduate engineering school in the country, #15 in liberal arts. I was in the top 25% (there's only about 175 in my class).
