I'm planning to do the HPSP , and would like to figure out what kind of pay I'll be making during the summer training sessions, and once I graduate... I have 3 years prior service in the Army. I read something about needing 4+ years of prior service to be eligible for any additional pay. Is this true? When I graduate medical school, where would I fall in the pay table (O3 with 3 years service ?) ?

Also, is there any advantage to completing the HPSP contract ASAP and/or completing the OBC course ASAP? (i.e. time in grade, time in service, etc..?)

You'll graduate med school as an O3 with three years in service. This will give you a higher pay scale, which will be nice.

I think that the additional pay that you're referring to is known as a O3E, which requires 4 years of enlisted service. In your case, you would be an O3 with 3 years experience.

I'm definitely not getting the O1 >8 years of pay while doing my ADTs. I think they just bottom out your pay during school. If it's supposed to be otherwise, somebody let me know 'cuz I could use that extra $$$!

you need 4 year +1 day to be eligible for O3E pay...otherwise when you start internship you will be receiving O3 <2yrs pay.
