I hope this doesn't sound like a silly question, but my mom just recently told me she wants to help me in funding my medical education. I was wondering if it's unusual for medical schools to do a payment plans over the course of the semester? My undergraduate institute did, but wasn't sure if the same thing flys in med school or if I should even waste my time asking the financial aid office.

Thanks for your feedback.

You might as well ask.

if payment is all due at once your mom can help you pay off loans (while still in school) or just save up money for next year and you won’t have to take out as big of a loan :)

I'm sure it's institution dependent, but my school does it. I don't think it would ever be a waste of time to ask the FA a FA related question, lol. Not only are they the experts but it is also their job to answer your questions. I'm sure they would be happy to help.
