hi all~

i am looking into replacing my pda--however, being the poor dental student that i am, i want this one to be able to last me through my 4 years at dental school. particularly, i was wondering if anyone had any advice on which operating system had better/more/free software programs that would be useful during clinics in 3rd year? are there more available programs for palm os or does pocket pc have about the same amount? do you know if dentists use pda's heavily during clinics/practice as do the med/pharm students?

also, do you have any recommendations as to pda models i should look into? i want something fast, small, and with a color display. one last thing~ where can i go to find free dental pda programs? thanks a bunch! :D

I own both a windows CE PDA (iPaq), and a Palm OS . PDA. And have used both of them for my patient management, and drug lookups. As far as which one to use, it depends on which O.S. you like. Before geting my iPAQ I was a palm user, and I recently again changed back to Palm... Both are pretty cool to use for patient management, and lots of softwares are availible.
As far as free software, I think that only palm O.S. has the free drug book (ePockretes) availible for download which is very useufll for drug lookups. Also WinCE Sofware for dental drugs is made by skyscape.com but you have to pay for them. They both are very good. As far as patient schedualing programs lots are availible to download, just do a search on any windowsCE palm application download site, and lots will popup.
By they way, I don't think any dentists use PDA's that much for patient management, as most use their office computer software for this, however its a possibility.
