does anyone know if med schools generally let admitted students defer matriculation for two years to serve in the Peace Corps?
It's going to depend on the school. Most either don't allow deferal, or allow deferal for only a year. A two year deferal would be a bit long . . . my suggestion would be to do the peace corp first and then apply to medical school if that's really what you want to do.MahlerROCKS said:does anyone know if med schools generally let admitted students defer matriculation for two years to serve in the Peace Corps?

Law2Doc said:I agree you are unlikely to get such a long deferral. Better to do the Peace Corps (if you are so inclined) and then apply -- its a very strong EC and might get you looked at by a better class of schools anyhow. Plus if you bring along some MCAT review materials, after two years of studying you should get a 43 anyhow.

Yeah... I think it's better that way... toomashce said:It takes several months to do the Peace Corps application and get accepted. Why not study and take the MCAT in April and leave after that?
