Hi everyone!
So, I am a beginning third year student, but I am pretty certain I want to do peds. I suppose I'm not set in stone, but in the past, my career hunches have always been pretty good.
My question to the forum is this....what are good solid peds residency programs? I know who the top names are and I'm not certain those programs are right for me. I would consider CHOP, but more for sentimental reasons than anything else. I've got some concerns about programs like CHOP, and their compatiability with my career goals.
I'm strongly considering doing work with the NHSC in the future. I am a big fan of rural medicine (hense the theory that the top research-geared programs may not be for me) and not a huge fan of cities. But, I consider location fairly irrelevent in choosing a program - I want a program that going to throughly educate me and provide a good exposure to patients. I don't think I want to be a PCP pediatrician (I've done some well-child in the past...it was fun, but a bit boring. I don't think I could do it forever without something else to focus on, like research or some kind of project).
So, what are good solid peds programs? I passed Step One comfortably, but didn't blow it away (fat part of the bell curve = me). How do I find out about these programs? (besides word of mouth).
