For those of us who have had the misfortune to be rejected at one of our top choices, I wanted to put out this poll to find out what rationales we conjur up for ourselves about the reason behind the rejection. A couple of times I have imagined a big yellow post-it note in the front of my file that says: "Rejected ---- Weak Letters of Rec" or something like that. I'm sure these post-it notes don't exist, but if they did, what would be on your file?
Please add more in the thread. I can only list up to 10 in the poll.

move over yogi, looks like we have a new poll master. seriously, you can rejected for not sending thank you letters? I've only sent one. 😱

hmm, all your reasons seem to place blame on the rejected person somehow (or blind bad luck as the final option). Personally I blame the school for having an obviously flawed admissions process and poor vision! 😉

Hey guys,

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure most schools don't reject for not sending thank you letters. But that feeling falls into the category of admissions cycle paranoia... the irrational fears that we have because our futures are on the line.

UMich was my stretch. But I didn't apply till Oct/Nov (non-trad, my *epiphany* occurred in Sept.). So I have explained my no interview from UofM on account of being late and being out-of-state.

Also, I used Aug. '99 scores. Maybe they didn't like that.

But I grew up a Buckeye fan. It would have been weird for me in Ann Arbor anyways 😉

At least, this is how I see it...

Looks like you guys aren't sweating the small stuff too much. Thanks for your input.
