I'm writing a personal statement or "statement of of purpose" (I assume they me the same thing?) for a summer shadowing program. In my essay I mention two doctors that contributed significantly towards treating a chronic condition I have, and strongly influenced my decision to pursue medicine. One of which practices at university where I am applying, and would almost certainly be recognized by anyone reading my statement.

I am concerned if I mention their names, it would seem like I am only interested in the chance of working with this particular physician (which is not the case). Should I leave the two doctors' names in my essay or should leave their initials? (ex. Dr. F and Dr. G....)

ps...This is not the only reason I give in my statement for wanting to pursue medicine.

Thanks for in advance for any advice!

    Initials.

G-d forbid the reader hates the doc or name-dropping.

I was also told by my pre-med advisors to use initials.
