I will be beginning PGY-1 in July.

My contract states that I must "take all necessary steps to obtain state medical licensure" within 60 days of signing the contract.

I've contacted my program regarding this and they've not gotten back to me.

I also contacted the state medical board and was told that my program will apply for a "Residency Training Permit" on my behalf, and that I do not need to do anything further or apply for licensure. This representative didn't sound too confident in their response, however.

Could anyone offer some useful info or advise? Thanks.

Try again to contact your program. My program sent me a link in an email directing me to the permit application. No one else is going to know what to do except your program.

I'm not sure about other states, but in TX, it's all online. I needed an ID number from my program, as well as a number to enter for them to pay for the license.

I don't think you can do anything without some kind of info from your program. I'd call them again.

Not everyone has gotten the license information yet. Don't fret.

Thanks for the replies--my program said they'll get the information to me soon.
