I have been told that the pharmacology on the COMLEX 1 is basically testing knowledge of drug of choice for given conditions, and knowledge of specific mechanisms, side effect profiles etc. are not exactly high yeild. Has anyone found this to be true as well? Could you shed some light on what pharm questions consisted of in your exam? Thanks!

Although one would think that most questions would involve DOCs, many of us felt
that the test was overly weighted with questions involving 2nd and 3rd choice
meds. Just make sure you know DOCs very well, then spend time with the others.
You're right about the rest...not many questions on mech of action or side effects.
MAJOR TIP: LOTS of questions on antimicrobials...be able to match the bug with
the drug. Also, they usually won't tell you the bug...you'll have to figure that
out yourself.
