I do not enjoy lectures and would prefer a textbook but my school does not offer one. Actually they do say Goodman and Gilman is "required" but that's just a troll move on their part. What textbooks do you guys recommend for pharm? Do not say Pharm Recall, that's not a textbook. I'm thinking Lippincott's or Katzung, anyone with experience with these? Thanks.

Goodman and Gilman is a good combination of pharmacology and pharmacotherapeutics. If you're looking for more pharmacology, Katzung is a great choice. Golan's Principles of pharmacology is another good one.

Used Katzung for med school and my MS Pharm. I liked it, its really straight forward and organized well.

Pharm WHAT?

For pharmacology, Goodman and Gilman is the best. Sorry.

For therapeutics, Dipiro is the gold standard most used.

I never went to pharm lecture. I took professor's notes and made flash cards of the drugs/biggest side effects/MOA. If they don't post notes, that sucks.

I had the Katzung book and hated it.

The rapid review pharm is really good IMO. Outline format, hits the MOA and biggest side effects. Really quick read.

Has a chapter on kinetics/dynamics as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. There is no way I am going to buy/read G&G. There is no time.

Went with Katzung.

+1 I would also recommend case book for dipiro, will cover lots of diagnostic, pathophys, interactions, and adverse effects.

In addition, ATP III, CHEST, JNC7, etc all these guidelines are very helpful

Making flash cards help. I also found this book to be useful:

I liked Katzung. Used it this year when my pharm notes didn't fill in some gaps. I also plan to use it for the comprehensive exams in the back of the books.... our pharm final is everything we've covered since August, so I'm gonna need everything I can get my hands on.

There is that one which is a review and there is one probably 2 or 2.5 times longer, actual text with longer explanations.

Im assuming you mean the lange review book then and not the full length version? Otherwise im impressed that you have time for the full textbook if you're in a time crunch. For what it's worth, I also liked the lange books as my favorites for pharm 🙂.

I have two Katzung's.

Why oh god why.
