Pharmacy Summer Internship Program

At Carilion Clinic the Pharmacists are the medication experts and members of the patient care team. By having pharmacists partner with other disciplines, we are improving the care we provide to our patients.

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) is a 791-bed teaching, tertiary care facility with Level 1 Trauma. The pharmacy department at (CRMH) utilizes a mix of centralized and decentralized clinical staff and clinical specialists to provide pharmaceutical care to patient populations ranging from neonates to geriatrics and from outpatients to patients in intensive care units. The pharmacist to technician ratio of 1 to 1.

Position Specific Information:

This position is a 10 week internship offering edcuation, work experience, and providing service to the Department of Pharmacy

As part of the health care team, the Pharmacy Intern provides pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages. Provides quality service under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist. Assists with projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: Current enrollment at a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).

Experience: Completion of at least one year of pharmacy school.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Virginia Pharmacy Intern licensure.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to be familiar (including strengths, dosage forms, and uses) with a large number (1000-2000) of medications. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must have computer and keyboard skills. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. Must have good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
