Hello,

I am a 6th year pharmacy student at a 7-year pharmacy program (3 years undergrad, 4 years of pharmacy school, with no bachelor's, only a PharmD is awarded). I understand that my AMCAS GPA will most likely only include my first 3 years of undergrad. Here are my stats:

Undergrad gpa: 3.61 (not a perfect trend... 3.85->3.3->3.5). 3 C's, one in anatomy and physiology 1 (I then got an A in anatomy and physiology 2), a C in an Aerospace Engineering course I took as an elective, a C+ in Calculus 3.

Pharmacy school gpa: 3.82 (lowest score: B)

MCAT: 523 (131/128/132/132)--taken on August 24 of this year

Extracurriculars:
President of an Ethnic club
Community service chair at a club dedicated to non-clinical volunteering
Treasurer (current) at a pharmacy club

non-Clinical volunteering: ~100 hrs
Clinical volunteering (in progress): 100 hours currently, projected 150-200 by May

Research:
Research with a former professor. About 500 or more hours. Hoping for a publication soon.

LOR: research professor, physics professor... non-science professor pending.

School list:
Loyola
UChicago
Northwestern
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
IndianaU
Drexel
Wake Forest
Dartmouth
Duke
Albany
Jefferson
Temple
Boston U
Georgetown
George Washington

I believe that my recklessness during my undergrad years will cost me. I was undisciplined and because I was in the pharmacy program I didn't care too much about grades.

Thanks!

Where is your state of residence?

Illinois is where I go to school. Parents live in Indiana. So Indiana I guess.

I would prefer an Illinois school, near Chicago, but would also be cool with schools near big cities on the coasts.

Indiana is where your best chance is. Your high MCAT will attract attention at some schools. You could add more schools such as:
Hofstra
Einstein
Mount Sinai
NYU
Tufts
Washington U
Cincinnati
Case Western

Alright, thanks for your help!

You're a decent MD candidate. Don't go as top heavy as your MCAT suggests and you'll do fine. Your state school is sure to take you; your GPA would be at median or a little below, and your MCAT is stellar, north of the median for every school in the country.
