Hi,

I'm interested in possibly taking a few months off of my M2 to do some research (please, no inquiries about the logistics of this). I'm interested in working on a project, working 9 - 5pm Mon - Fri for about 6 months in either Philadelphia, or Chicago. Does anyone know of any labs interested in hiring anyone for such? I have a 1 year undergraduate neuroscience thesis research experience under my belt and am hoping most specifically for anything neuroscience related.

Thanks!

the best thing to do would be to websurf for faculty profiles for labs that you are interested in working in, emailing them and see what they say. it really comes down to funding. if you are willing to volunteer then it'll be a cinch but if you expect to get funding from them....good luck.

Neurotrancer,

You can search for research positions at Penn if you go to www.hr.upenn.edu/jobs. Click on 'Search Open Positions' and follow the prompts. Although that's just for paid positions. If you want unpaid research, I've found that alot of researchers here at Penn are receptive to motivated students just approaching them. I found my job in the radiology department by responding to a post on a list serve, including my CV and a cover letter specific to the position.

I can tell you that if you post your resume and cover letter with Penn HR, after they initially examine the applications, they e-mail the PI and give him access to all of them. I've been screening for someone to take over my job (doesn't really fit your described interests) now that I'm headed to med school, and so have used the system from the other side.

Good luck!
