Does anyone know if you are able to obtain PA residency by MS2 in order to pay in-state tuition at Pitt? I would love to end up there, but compared to my state school (SUNY), the price tag is pretty hefty.

it's impossible. many have tried, none have succeeded.

For real? That's wierd. how come some schools let you but they don't. Is there some kind of stipulation that if you are accepted, you must have the same res. status all 4 yrs.?

I don't know how to move threads to other forums, but maybe I should have posted this in Allo. Am I able to move it, or does it have to be done by a moderator?

I asked about this and was told (by their financial aid person) that you remain out of state for all 4 years regardless of house buying, marriage etc.

I wonder what the PA residency requirements are... Right now, I'm an Oregon resident living and working in Pennsylvania...but if I don't move back to Oregon this summer I suppose by that time I'd be a Pennsylvania resident. Not as though Pittsburgh wouldn't be worth it even at the out-of-state tuition....

Once again, I should probably post this ? in Allo (I'll start a different thread there), but does anyone have any idea what kind of financial aid packages Pitt gives? Hopefully they include about $20,000 in grant money/year...sorry, drifted into fantasy land for a second.

I have a (fairly) generous [ie - good enough for me to give up my state school, and not a bad one at that] aid package from them - they have made up for the cost difference between instate and out of state, plus some, in grants - also have a school subsidized loan... I don't know if they do this for all out of state people, but I think it is pretty common. I have a feeling I wouldn't get this money if I was only paying instate tuition...
