If you applied to Pitt and were accepted/waitlisted/rejected, what were your stats (things besides GPA/MCAT included)? Did you do research undergrad? How much/ what kind of clinical/volunteer work did you do? How did you spend your summers? Are you a PA resident?

Where were you accepted (besides Pitt if you got in, or where were you accepted/rejected if you didn't get into Pitt)?

Thanks! It's not quite time for me to apply to med school (I'm only a sophomore undergrad now), but I want to know where I stack up in terms of Pitt. :)

I don't know if this helps, but I was accepted there last year (and didn't go). MCAT: 35. GPA: 3.8 or so. M.S in counseling psych and a couple articles under review in journals (so I had some research background). I also volunteered at local hospitals and had a full-time career in a medically oriented market research company. I got a great vibe from the school and it was very difficult for me to decide not to go there. I chose to go to MN instead for a variety of practical (and some academic) reasons. Hope that helps.

  4. rejected pre-interview from Pitt. 3.62 GPA, 29 MCAT, MD resident, UM undergrad. Accepted off waitlists at SLU and Tufts, attend Tufts. Volunteered at a hospice, shadowed docs at Hopkins, very active member of comm. service fraternity in last 2 years of college. Research at UMAB during the summers in immunology, some graduate coursework at UMAB as well (but alas their med school waitlisted me and never took me). Would have loved to go to Pitt because it has an awesome rep and cool PBL curriculum.

    Hey beamiestface!

I was accepted to Pitt this year and will probably matriculate there, probably <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

    INFO

MD resident, UMD grad (Dec. 2001). Also accepted at Tufts and waitlisted at some others.

    GPA: 3.82, MCAT: 33

    Research:
    Children's National Medical Center
University of Hawaii at Manoa - Dept. of Psychology
    University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute
Walter Reed Army Institute of Research

    2 publications

    Clinical:
Children's National Medical Center - ID Dept.

    Volunteer:
    Habitat for Humanity
    Children's Hospital - DC
    Whitman Walker Clinic - DC

Also, lots of the 'other' stuff that makes us human...this list is just the outline. Numbers may open the interview door at Pitt but the interview itself will seal the deal. Good Luck and enjoy college (remember to have fun too)!

Katie: When did you graduate from UMD?

    Hi there,

I just got accepted to Pitt this last week. I had 4.0 first three years at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, then 3.8 my senior year because I goofed off at the University of Sydney, Australia. 34R MCAT. Other stuff:

Clinical research 3 years, five publications. AmeriCorps service. Volunteer on an AIDS hotline.

Hope this helps! I am seriously leaning towards going to Pitt, but my family is in San Diego, so UCSD is also very appealing (I will interview there next week).

    Good luck!

as of now, im going to pitt.

(i actually did this at a few interviews and the interviewers all went absolutely nuts!!!).

Anyway, has anyone seen a the 2002 match list for Pitt? Just curious.

Also, is anyone planning on going to the second look weekend?

    Take care.

    1) i'll definately be at the 2nd look_ im the tall guy with the weird name and goatie (see my profile for pict).

    2) yes 2 minutes

    3) yes i brought the rubik's cube_ trick is to tactfully work it into the conversation and then bust it out, have the interviewer mess it up, and solve it. guarantee you that they have never seen it done before, and they have spent countless hours a decade ago trying to figure it out.

    4) haven't seen match list, but im dying to get a look at it. if anyone gets it, could you please post?

    thanks

last year when I interviewed there, they gave us the match list from the prior year with our materials, so that should be available.
