I'd found this a few years back, I don't know if many people know about it, but it seems like a really good program (in terms of getting you exposure to medicine): http://www.brighamandwomens.org/volunteer/MCEP.aspx

Tufts runs a free clinic that a friend of mine used to be involved with. I don't know of anyone else that has worked there, but it's probably a good place: http://www.sharewood.info/volunteers.php
look at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program. I volunteered there a couple of years ago. Not a bad experience. They work out of a lot of different locations in the boston area.

If you're going to consider going to Malden, I'd suggest looking into others in Sudbury, Framingham, Worcester and Waltham. If you limit yourself to just Boston you may come up empty handed. It's worth traveling a bit to find a good experience.
